In mid-July, Israeli Defense Force and U.S. Marines special forces completed a unique exercise in Israel’s Negev Desert. Its name is “Noble Shirley” and the following are images that were published on American websites by the Marines.
The joint exercise is meant to give the Israeli Air Force, Navy, and Army special forces units practice in cooperation with the US Marines. The American special forces are learning from the IDF’s experience in counter-terrorism, which they will then implement against ISIS in the Middle East.
During the exercise, the militaries conducted landing forces with helicopters in enemy lines, urban warfare above- and under-ground and guerilla warfare. Later on, they practiced rescuing wounded soldiers deep inside enemy lines and operating both militaries’ medical systems.
In addition, the special forces simulated both night-time and day-time combat situations at the IDF’s Ze’elim training facility, which was built to look exactly like a Palestinian city.
