To Obama, ‘Compromise’ Means Doing It His Way

According to Barack Obama, every time there seems to be an impasse between Republicans and Democrats, he calls on the Republicans to compromise and then blames them when they don’t.

Last December, when the Bush Era tax cuts were about to run out, the Democrats were pushing a two month extension only while the Republicans were pushing for a one year extension. President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that they would not approve of the Republican plan and that they were not about to budge on theirs. Then in the same breath, they both accused Republicans of being unwilling to compromise.

Last year, President Obama accused Republicans of not compromising on his jobs bill. In fact, House Republicans passed more than 12 jobs bills that went to the Democratic controlled Senate, where Reid refused to even allow most of them to be reviewed by committee.

In the latest issue of compromise, President Obama is challenging Republicans to once again compromise on extending the Bush Era tax cuts for everyone making $250,000 a year or less. The President insists on ending the tax cuts on anyone making more than $250,000 while Republicans say this will only hurt jobs as these are the people that create jobs. Speaking in his weekly radio address, Obama said:

“The only place we disagree is whether we keep giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 2% of Americans. Republicans in Washington want more of those tax cuts. With the deficit we have, I don’t think we can afford them.”

“But even if we disagree on the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, we all agree that no American should pay more taxes on the first $250,000 of their income. So let’s at least agree to do what we all agree on. That’s what compromise is all about.”

So, in Obama’s own words, compromise is all about doing things his way. He wants others to compromise, but he is unwilling to do the same. What the president fails to realize is that compromise is a two way street, not a one directional forced pathway. I’ve always heard that it takes two people to compromise.

Basically, Obama should be using the term submit instead of compromise. He keeps insisting that Republicans submit to his way of doing things because he is unwilling to compromise or even consider their way.

Barack Obama and the Presidency of Many “Firsts”

Barack Obama can be credited with many additional “firsts” after being the first black man to be elected as President of the United States.  The list is long and undistinguished.

Let’s just begin with the fact that only three times, in all the years since D-Day 1945, that a President failed to go to the D-Day Monument that was built to honor the soldiers killed during the Invasion. The President and occasions were:

1. Barack Obama 2010

2. Barack Obama 2011

3. Barack Obama 2012

For the past 68 years, all presidents, except Obama, have paid tribute to the fallen soldiers killed on D-Day.  This year, instead of honoring the soldiers, he made a campaign trip on Air Force 1 to California to raise funds for the upcoming election.

The list goes on…

This, hopefully, concludes the lists of “firsts” by Barack Obama while President.

Spain’s Unemployment Rate Rises to One in Four

Spanish unemployment has risen again, this time to a level of one quarter of the workforce.Only Greece has a higher unemployment rate in the European Union. Spanish unemployment today is the highest in modern history and higher than at any time in the 36 years since the death of Francisco Franco. The current unemployment rate is more than double the average in the other nations of the eurozone.

This news comes when other bleak economic data from Spain shows that the plans to save Spain from economic disaster are not working. Earlier in the week, the GDP of Spain was reported to have shrunk by 0.4 percent in the last quarter, making it the fifth consecutive quarter of economic contraction in Spain.

Ebrahim Rahbari, an economic analyst for Citigroup in London, summed up the situation: “There is a huge amount of uncertainty in Spain right now. There are question marks about the banking sector and public finances and economic fundamentals suggest we will see a bailout sooner than later.”

Ricardo Santos, an economist at BNP Paribas in London, was quoted by Bloomberg saying: “The situation is serious. There is still room for deterioration in unemployment. Activity is weak and the government will reduce jobs as there are strict targets to adjust the number of public sector temporary workers, especially in health and education.”

Justin Knight at UBS in London also viewed the new data with concern, and cautioned that more than unemployment was involved: “Unemployment is one part of a multifaceted problem in Spain. There recession is looking very bad and it looks like it will be worse than forecast. Spain’s public and private net external debt is the same size as Greece.”

Jobseekers stand and wait for an employment office to open in Madrid.

This bad news comes three months after the European Central Bank offered to buy Spanish bonds in order to keep the borrowing costs of the Spanish government as low as possible. Prime Minister Rajoy is considering asking for a eurozone bailout, and he is also considering stronger austerity measures.

Spain is the fourth largest economy in the eurozone, after Germany, France, and Italy. So what happens in Spain matters more than what happens in a much smaller economy like Greece. This has led Spain to replace Greece, Ireland, and Portugal as the most serious threats to the survival of the euro.

The Difference Between “Wide Receiver” and “Fast And Furious”

During an interview that was noted for actually asking Obama questions with follow-up rather than the sorry spectacle we’ve become accustomed to of a reporter attaching himself to Obama’s nether regions, Obama was questioned about the ill-conceived Operation Fast and Furious and the DOJ IG report:

QUESTION: Mr. President, you told me during an interview that you — Eric Holder or you did not authorize the Fast and Furious operation that allowed 2,000 weapons from the United States to Mexico, and they were in drug-trafficking hands. I think that up to 100 Mexicans might have died, and also American agent, Brian Terry. There’s a report that 14 agents were responsible for the operation. But shouldn’t Attorney General Eric Holder — he should have known about that. And if he didn’t, should you fire him?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration. When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned an inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued, confirming that, in fact, Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable.

The President’s answer is not factual on a lot of levels.

President Obama during Univision interview, Sept. 20, 2012

The differences between operation Wide Receiver and operation Fast and Furious are fairly profound and distinct.

Operation Wide Receiver began in 2005 during the Bush administration and it involved 400 guns. Every weapon had RFID trackers installed on them and they were continually tracked. The Phoenix ATF and the DOJ were the ones actively involved in the operation, tracking the guns to see which cartels they would end up at for the purposed of informing the Mexican government as to where they were.

Unlike the Obama administration, the Bush administration notified the Mexican government when the weapons crossed their border. We know that at least 1,440 arrests were made a part of Wide Receiver.

Once the smugglers found out they were being tracked, they located the RFID trackers and ripped them out. The program was immediately shut down as a result in October 2007.

Now fast forward to October of 2009. Operation Wide Receiver has been shut down now for 2 years. It is not ongoing as the President would have people believe.

Enter Fast and Furious during Barack Obama’s tenth month in office. This operation involved 2,500 guns. There were virtually no tracking devices on these weapons. Katie Pavlich points out that out of all of these guns there were two that contained trackers, one of which was homemade. They also had 40 hour battery lives on them, so there was no way they could seriously think they could track these weapons.

In addition to the lack of any trackers on the weapons walked across the border into Mexico, there was virtually no surveillance. There were no helicopters, planes or anything. The operation was conducted by four federal agencies in as many as ten cities in five states.

Unlike operation Wide Receiver, the Mexican government was not even made aware that the program even existed.

Not once were any of the “bad guys” arrested, nor was there efforts put forth to do so and the program came to an end because of the death of at least 200 Mexican civilians and two American federal agents, border patrol agent Brian Terry and ICE agent Jaime Zapata.

Some believe that Fast and Furious was an effort to make a case against American gun dealers and the Second Amendment of the United States.

Now, Congressional committee members are trying to unravel the details and get their hands on documents that the Justice Department and now Barack Obama himself continue to keep hidden.

It is widely known that both Eric Holder and Barack Obama are anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment. There past statements leave no doubt that they desire to disarm the American public. Holder has even claimed that he thinks America needs to be “brain washed” concerning guns.

Eventually, the truth, one way or the other, will come out about all of these things…

Why Is The US Government Planning For ‘Mass Fatalities’?

The United States Congress has passed a bill which mandates the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to prepare for “mass fatality planning” and funeral homes, cemeteries and mortuaries being “overwhelmed” in the aftermath of a mass terror attack, natural disaster or other crisis.

The bill, H. R. 6566 or the Mass Fatality Planning and Religious Considerations Act, was posted on the website this morning having been approved by the House on September 28.

HR 6566 amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and its stated purpose is “[t]o amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to require the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide guidance and coordination for mass fatality planning…”

“This is just one of those things that makes the stomach turn: the people who brought us the National Defense Authorization Act (authorizing the detention of US citizens on US soil) now deem it prudent to prepare for mass fatalities on US soil,” writes Simon Black.

“FEMA, as you may recall, is the same organization that couldn’t get bottles of water delivered to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina… and held up hundreds of seasoned volunteer emergency service workers from entering the city for several days of mandatory sexual harassment training.”

The legislation will only serve to stoke more paranoia that the federal government is preparing for mass civil unrest that could lead to a declaration of martial law and require lethal force to be used, as it was during Hurricane Katrina when police were ordered to shoot looters.

The Department of Homeland Security has been arming itself to the teeth over the course of the last six months, purchasing ammunition in jaw-dropping quantities.

As reported at last month, following controversy over its purchase of around 1.2 billion bullets in the last six months alone, the DHS has put out a new solicitation for over 200 million more rounds of ammunition, some of which are designated to be used by snipers.

Whether well-intentioned or not, this bill is yet another telling indication of how the political elite thinks. At best, they’re incompetent and out of touch. At worst, they’re dangerous and sociopathic.

Either way, this ought to be a reminder of what representative democracy really means in the Land of the Free today… and why it’s so important to take control of your freedom.

These people are not the solution. They’re the problem.

France Sends Drones For Mali Crisis

France is moving surveillance drones to West Africa and holding secretive talks with U.S. officials in Paris, as France seeks to steer international military action to help Mali’s feeble government win back the northern part of the country from al-Qaida-linked rebels.

France and the United Nations insist any invasion of Mali’s north must be led by African troops. But France, which has six hostages in Mali and is said to have citizens who have joined al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, is playing an increasing role behind the scenes.

Many in the West fear that northeast Mali and the arid Sahel region could become the new Afghanistan, a no-man’s-land where Islamists can train, impose shariah law and plot terror attacks.

Francois Heisbourg

“This is actually a major threat – to French interests in the region, and to France itself,” said Francois Heisbourg, an expert at the Foundation for Strategic Research, a partially state-funded think tank in Paris. “This is like Afghanistan 1996. This is like when Bin Laden found a place that was larger than France in which he could organize training camps, in which he could provide stable preparations for organizing far-flung terror attacks.”

France has been turning more attention to the Sahel just as it is accelerating its pullout of combat troops from Afghanistan ahead of other NATO allies.

A French defense official said that France plans to move two surveillance drones to western Africa from Afghanistan by year-end, though he did not provide details.

Al-Qaeda leader calls on Muslims to kidnap Westerners

Ayman al-Zawahiri

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has urged Egyptians to restart their revolution to press for Islamic law and called on Muslims to kidnap Westerners, the SITE Intelligence Group said Friday.

In a video released on jihadist forums and translated by the US monitoring service, Zawahiri also lashed out at President Barack Obama, calling him a liar and demanding he admit defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan and North Africa.

Criticizing the new Egyptian government — led by a president drawn from the Muslim Brotherhood — as corrupt, he said a battle is being waged in Egypt between a secular minority and Muslims seeking implementation of Shariah law.

The Egyptian doctor, the former deputy to slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, said these Egyptians want to see their government liberated from US influence and Palestinian victory over Israel, SITE reported.

“The battle isn’t over, but it has started,” Zawahiri said, urging “every sincere person in Egypt” to “wage a popular campaign to incite and preach in order to complete the revolution, which was aborted.

“The revolution in Egypt must continue and the Muslim Ummah must offer sacrifices until it achieves what it wants and until it snatches from the corrupt forces … the dignity and honor of Egypt.”
