If you follow the news, you’ve heard of housing crisis after mortgage crisis after banking crisis. You’ve seen the price of oil skyrocketing to new highs causing the cost of everything we purchase to go up. The airline and trucking industries cannot afford to continue operating and many have either already gone out of business or are on the verge of going out of business. You’ve seen the value of the dollar dropping to new lows. The stock market continues to decline.
We cannot continue to bail out everyone who is having problems making ends meet! We seem to think that we can just print more money and that will make everything better. What we are doing is borrowing money from other countries to cover the new dollars we print. That’s not totally unlike getting a cash advance from MasterCard to pay your Visa bill.
I frankly don’t want to believe that it is all happening by direction, but I’m beginning to have to give that very idea serious consideration. Every time I hear an economist talk or read something they have written, they are all saying our economy, and therefore our country, is in serious trouble. They are saying that we cannot continue to operate this way. Yet, every time I hear someone from Washington talk, they are saying that there is no problem or if they admit there is a problem, they point blame at someone else and say we just need to provide more government assistance.
I may be the first to say this, but I will not be surprised if and when we are told by our “government officials” that the dollar has weakened to the point where it would be in the best interest of the country if we should join our economies with those of our neighbors and convert from the dollar to the Amero as a currency. I can’t say when this is going to happen, I can’t say how it will happen. Mark my words, however, someone is going to suggest it.
